Exhaust System Repairs

Leroy H., at Duxler since 1992
Your muffler not only keeps your car quiet - it is also a major component in your car's exhaust emission system. The muffler plays an important part in cutting down air pollution and noise pollution as well.
If you are noticing that your car is idling roughly or making excessive noise (or you can see and feel something dragging underneath the vehicle), there is a good chance that your exhaust system is in need of repair. When you bring your car to Duxler, our technicians will check and repair exhaust manifolds and gaskets, oxygen sensors, catalytic converters, resonators, mufflers and all pipes, hangers, clamps and brackets to get your car back in shape.
Electrical System Diagnosis & Repairs
Your car's electrical system provides your vehicle with the vital spark that makes it start, keeps it running, and powers all of the electrical devices. Duxler's technicians have the expertise and modern diagnostic equipment to check your vehicle for problems and make any necessary repairs. We can maintain and fix all of the following components: Engine Control Unit (ECU); batteries; starters; alternators; electrical accessories; and headlights and vehicle bulbs.
Computer Diagnostics

Scott H., at Duxler since 1999
Duxler Complete Auto Care prides itself on purchasing and maintaining the latest and most sophisticated computer diagnostic equipment. This allows us to fix a: "check engine" light; "ABS" light, and "4WD" light (if applicable to your vehicle). Please ask your Duxler Service Advisor for more details.
Emissions Abatement
If your vehicle has failed an emissions test, Duxler has the latest diagnostic equipment and expert technicians to detect and repair any emission problems your car is experiencing, including:
defective oxygen sensor; air injection system (if equipped); leaking or defective fuel injectors; restricted air filter; vacuum leaks resulting in improper MAP sensor operation; defective air mass or air flow sensor; malfunctioning fuel evaporation system or purge valve; defective catalytic converter; defective thermostat (cooling system), and thermostat malfunction.
We will also check and repair: worn spark plugs; defective spark plug wires; worn distributor cap and/or rotor; improper ignition timing; vacuum leaks; and engine mechanical failure, low compression, worn valves, and excessive oil consumption.
Note that proper vehicle maintenance can go a long way in keeping a vehicle's emissions within specifications. Having a complete tune-up is no guarantee of a passed emissions test - but it certainly increases the likelihood of success.
Engine Repair
Your car's engine produces the power that puts the vehicle in motion. Every engine has different needs, depending on past use and driving conditions. That's why Duxler offers complete engine services, from simple checks to more involved repairs.
Our engine services include: visual inspection of engine components; spark plug installation; setting of timing and idle (if applicable); fuel system cleaning; and installation of air filter. Duxler's expert technicians can also skillfully perform an engine overhaul and/or replacement.
Fuel Injection Diagnosis & Repair
If you're on the road and you notice that your accelerator seems to be working harder than usual, it may be a sign that you need to have your fuel injection system inspected, and possibly repaired.
Over time, carbon builds up on your vehicle's throttle body and fuel injection system, which can reduce gas mileage and engine performance. If build-up is detected, Duxler's technicians will use a special product to clean the throttle body and all fuel injectors. Your car's fuel injection system will always be routinely checked as part of Duxler's free safety inspection service.
Transmission Repair
As part of maintaining your vehicle's health and longevity, experts recommend having your automatic transmission serviced periodically, according to manufacturer's recommendations (usually around 24,000 miles, some vehicles may vary).
However, if you notice strange things happening while you're on the road, continuing to drive may make the situation worse. Some signs that you are having transmission trouble include: a light grey smoke coming out of the tailpipe; a thick black, tan, or red oily liquid is coming from under the vehicle; the engine speeds up when you step on the accelerator, but your vehicle doesn't go along with it; your engine hesitates before responding when you shift gears (or doesn't respond at all); if shifting suddenly becomes awkward or noisy; or you simply hear a clunking sound.
During a customary transmission repair, our mechanics will change the transmission fluid; adjust the bands on a hydraulic transmission if necessary; replace the transmission filter; and change the gasket and fluid in and around the transmission pan. When more extensive repair is necessary, Duxler's expert technicians can skillfully perform a transmission overhaul and/or replacement.
Heating & A/C
At Duxler, we want every ride in your car to be comfortable. In order to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, we provide a variety of heating and air conditioning services.
Because your car's heater is basically a smaller version of your engine's cooling system, it can suffer some of the same problems. For example, if the heater core becomes clogged with rust or sludge, you will no longer have heat. Additionally, leaks can cause a white steam that fogs up your windows. And, if you ever smell a sweet aroma when your heater is on, it is likely that you have a small leak in the heater core.
When your car's heater is not working, Duxler's expert technicians will inspect and repair all of the following components: the radiator's hoses, fan clutch, anti-freeze, water pump, thermostat, fan belts, serpentine belt, cooling sensor, heater core, and heater hoses.
If you find that the output from your car's air conditioner isn't as cold as it used to be, or that a strange smell is coming from the vents, it is likely that your air conditioning system is in need of service. You may also notice that the defroster no longer defogs the windshield effectively, there is water on the floor of the passenger compartment, or that the cooling fan keeps cycling on and off.
When your air conditioning needs attention, Duxler's technicians will conduct a performance check and make all necessary repairs. We will begin by visually checking all a/c components and run a battery of tests, including: system state of charge test; system control test; and a leak test using an electronic leak detector.
Note: Duxler is also able to perform A/C retrofit service on vehicles made before 1993. We will convert the system to use a modern refrigerant. There is a charge for A/C inspection.
Radiator Repair
Your car's radiator is the device that cools the liquid coolant or anti-freeze in your car's cooling system by allowing it to circulate through a series of water channels that are exposed to air ducts.
Did you know that cooling system failure is the number one cause of vehicle breakdowns? To keep this important system working properly, vehicle manufacturers recommend that this system be serviced at specified time or mileage intervals. Contaminants can block passages within the radiator and reduce its ability to keep the engine running at the optimal temperature. To remove this build-up, Duxler's expert technicians will perform a radiator "drain-and-fill."
This service includes: an inspection of your radiator system and pressure test for any leaks; adding flush chemicals to the radiator; flushing the system; refilling radiator system with anti-freeze; and adding sealant / lubricant to the system.
Batteries & Charging Systems
The battery stores the electrical current that is used to start the vehicle and pass electricity along to the ignition system, lights, and radio. Like other parts of your car, the battery is subject to wear and tear and should be checked frequently. You will notice that your battery needs attention if your car is having trouble turning over (slow crank) or if it won't start at all. The experts at Duxler will always inspect your battery during our routine safety check.
Duxler recommends and carries Interstate batteries.
Alternators
When the battery light in your car goes on - or you are having trouble starting the vehicle - you are receiving a signal that there is a problem with the charging system, and very likely trouble with the alternator. The expert technicians at Duxler Complete Auto Care will use the latest diagnostic tools to locate the charging system problem and replace the alternator if necessary, using only factory parts as is customary at Duxler.
Glass & Window Replacement
Flying pebbles and other debris easily find their way to your car's windshield and windows, resulting in damage in the form of pits and cracks.
Duxler offers fast, convenient and expert installation to replace damaged auto glass.
Windshield Wipers
We regularly carry and install high-quality Rainex windshield wipers.
Note: Some vehicles require special orders.
